How to Make a Healthy Lunch for School

School lunches are often lacking in many departments and many kids would rather bring their own. Rather than grabbing pizza everyday, why not pack a more tasty lunch? Packing your own lunch can be a healthier and even tastier option than buying school lunch everyday. Not only is it healthier, it can even save you money in the long run.

  1. Make a list of foods that you like to eat. Try to have a variety of options, along with keeping a good balance of healthy foods.

  2. 2
Research recipes and healthy alternatives. Examples can include:

    • Swapping white bread for wheat.
    • Making sandwich wraps instead of sandwiches.
    • Drinking water instead of juice.
  3. 3
Find grocery stores in your area that are devoted to mostly healthy and organic foods. Healthy and organic grocery stores are growing in popularity, it's likely you'll find one in your area.

  4. 4
Make a list of what you'll pack daily. This helps you keep organized and motivated to pack your lunch.

  5. 5
Have essential items such as fruit, vegetables, wheat bread, water, and other common items stocked in your house.

  6. 6
Keep a variety of choices. Packing the same PB&J sandwich everyday can quickly lose your interest and encourage you to fall back into your old habits. Be creative and you'll look forward to packing your lunch.

    • Allow yourself to have something that isn't very healthy once in a while. Moderation can be a great thing and can encourage you to continue your healthy habits.
  7. 7
Consider changing your whole diet to include more healthy foods. Eating healthy has many great benefits, changing your whole diet can reflect that.
